Furthermore, in November 2018, Kamaru Usman faced Rafael dos Anjos at The Ultimate Fighter: Heavy Hitters Finale. He defeated him via unanimous decision and then got a title shot against champion Tyron Woodley at UFC 235. Similarly, on March 2, 2019, he defeated Woodley via decision and became the Welterweight Champion.

O December 14, 2019, he made his first title defense and faced Colby Covington at UFC 245. He became successful through fifth-round technical knockout. This fight even earned him the Fight of the Night award.
