Lindsay Greenbush was born in Los Angeles, California, on May 25, 1970. Along with her identical twin, Sidney, she was hired to play a role in the TV movie Sunshine (1973). Having succeeded in this part, she and her sister went on to portray Carrie Ingalls on the TV show Little House on the Prairie from 1974 to 1982. She walked away from acting soon after her time on Little House was over.

Early Life and Acting Career

Rachel Lindsay Rene Bush was born in Los Angeles, California, on May 25, 1970. Her family consisted of her identical twin, Sidney, an older brother, Clay, and parents Billy and Carole.

Billy "Green" Bush was an actor who'd appeared in films such as Five Easy Pieces (1971). It was a friend of his who thought of Rachel and Sidney when a director wanted to cast twins for a project. This resulted in the two girls sharing the role of Jill in the 1973 television movie Sunshine.

Little House on the Prairie

After their work on Sunshine, the twins were recommended for the part of Carrie Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie, a TV series based on the popular books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. They were three years old when they were awarded the job.

The girls were listed together as Lindsay Sidney Greenbush in the show's opening credits, and would share the role of Carrie for their entire run on the series (the two appeared on Little House from 1974 to 1982). Both girls were seen on screen together in "The Godsister," an episode in which a lonely Carrie invents an imaginary identical friend; even for this episode, Rachel and Sidney alternated in the two parts.

The popularity of Little House resulted in opportunities for the two girls, such as a visit to the White House to see Amy Carter (daughter of President Jimmy Carter). However, their time on the series also had its frustrations, as Michael Landon (who played Charles Ingalls and also produced the show) ran a tight ship. In 2001, Rachel told People magazine, "Michael never made it fun for us. I was always petrified I was going to make a mistake."

Life After Little House

After their time on Little House ended, the twins, whose acting experience had also included doing commercials together, pursued separate roles. Rachel guest starred on the series Matt Houston, but she and her sister both ended up deciding to take a break from performing.

In 1988, Rachel graduated from Santa Monica High School. She attended Santa Monica College for a time before moving to Taos, New Mexico, in 1993.

A short-lived relationship in Taos resulted in the birth of Rachel's daughter, Katelynn. After a few years, Rachel returned to California and found work as a horse trainer in Simi Valley. She also met Frank Dornan, who would become her first husband.

Recent Years

Rachel's interests have grown to include amateur boxing. She's worked with Kid Gloves Boxing of Simi Valley, which encourages children to steer clear of gangs and drugs.

Despite her worries on the Little House set, Rachel has stated she found working on the series to be a good experience. She's shared her memories of the show at numerous events, both with and without her sister. These include visits to the real-life Walnut Grove, Minnesota, and an appearance on the Today show in 2014.

Though her first marriage didn't last, Rachel found love again thanks in part to Little House. In 1977, during filming for the episode "The Wolves," she was resting in the shade of an oak tree when she saw Danny, a boy who lived nearby, visiting the set. Thirty years later, Rachel and Danny met again, and ended up becoming a couple. In July 2014, their wedding ceremony was held under the same tree that had been the site of their first meeting.
