The Miz, whose real name is Michael Gregory Mizanin, is an American Professional wrestler and actor. The Miz is currently signed to WWE and performs under the SmackDown brand.

Early life and Childhood

The Miz’s real name is Michael Gregory Mizanin and he was born on October 8, 1980, in Parma, Ohio. He is currently 40 years old and was raised in his birth town. His parents Babara and George Mizanin got divorced during his childhood, when he was in 5th grade, to be more precise. Then he lived with his mother, step-father and two half-siblings Jimmy and Tonia.

He also has several nicknames like The Awesome One, The Money Maker, and The A-lister. He also has a step-sister named Tonia.

Education

Miz attended Normandy High School. During those days, he was the basketball and cross country team captain. Apart from this, he also participated in swimming and was engaged in yearbook editing as a student government member. For further studies, he joined Miami University and approached business studies at the Richard T. Farmer School of Business. But he dropped out to appear on The Real World (2001).

Career and Professional life

Television Career

In 2001 Mike dropped out of college to get into the 10th season of MTV’s reality television program The Real World.  Although the media life was totally new to him, he stood out as a brilliant cast of the season. Consequently, he also got into the Real World’s sister show, “Real World/Road Rules.”

His reality television career continued as he appeared on the Bravo reality show Battle of the Network Reality Stars in 2004. Similarly, he competed and won in the “Reality Stars” episode of Fear Factor with his then-girlfriend Trishelle Cannatella. Apart from this, he appeared in game show Identity in 2007  and H8R in 2011.

Besides being a part of reality shows, Mike also leaned into television series as an actor. In 2009, he made a guest appearance in the Sci-Fi series Ghost Hunters as an investigator. He has also played parts in many other series including 2010-‘Destroy Build Destroy‘,  2012 -‘Psych‘. He debuted as a movie actor in 2013 via the movie ‘Christmas Bounty‘.

Wrestling Career

Mizanin joined Ultimate Pro Wrestling and trained in the Ultimate University with a motive to achieve a professional wrestling career. He made his in-ring debut as The Miz in 2003. Within a year of his first fight, Miz got into WWE’s Tough Enough Season four. Despite coming up short on the competition, Miz made it to the finals. However, both the finalist Miz and Daniel Puder could not achieve knockout and Puder was declared the winner on the basis of crowd reaction.

As a result of the amazing performance, Miz got development contracts with WWE. Under the contract, he was sent to Deep South Wrestling to train under Bill DeMott. In July 2005 he teamed up with Matt Cappotell to wrestler two dark matches for WWE. The who had planned to a wrestler as a team tag: Reality Check in SmackDown. Unfortunately, Cappotell was diagnosed with cancer and the plans were halted.

In January of 2006, Mike was transferred to Ohio Valley Wrestling and debuted as Miz on the OVW TV show. He then teamed up with Chris Cage and won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship.

Roster Beginning

Mizanin made his  WWE Smackdown debut on March 7, 2006. He was fortunate even to host the SmackDown Shows. He continued as a host for the annual Diva Search Competition form the July of the same year with Ashley Massaro. However, after the end of the show, he got back into wrestling. He stood out as an undefeatable villain. In 2007 Miz took part in Royal Rumble Match where he was defeated by The Great Khali. Consequently, he was MIA from the media for a while. However, he returned as SmackDown Host then eventually back into wrestling. By June, Miz was drafted to ECW.

Individual Game

As a part of the WWE, The Miz has played hundreds of matches for various championships. RAW, The Bash, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, Bagging Rights, Summer Slam, etc are some events in which The Miz has been a common name. Besides these events, Miz has also part took the United States Championship and won on the October 5 episode of Raw. He also got the chance to win a contract for a WWE Championship match after being the Money in the Bank ladder match-winner. He has also been able to win Intercontinental Championship, becoming the 25th Triple Crown Champion and a Grand Slam Champion in the process.

Tag-Teams

Along with an amazing individual game, Miz had won several matches forming alliances. In 2007, The Miz and John Morrison teamed up and became the WWE Tag Team Champions. The two even published The Dirty Sheet on the WWE website mocking other wrestlers. The two were a great team together winning several matches but the partnership came to an end after they lost a match on the April 13 episode of Raw.

After the break of the alliance, Miz stood alone for years. But in 2011 he formed Awesome Truth with R-Truth. The two were in verse of winning the WWE Team Tag Champion. But unfortunately got disqualified. Out of this rage, Miz and R-Truth even attacked Triple H and CM Punk.

After the end of Awesome Truth, Miz became partners with Mizdow. The pair even won the WWE Tag Team Championship. However, they were disqualified from the TLC. They were even unsuccessful in making into the Royal Rumble that eventually lead to dissolving the partnership

In the year 2016, Miz won his fifth Intercontinental Championship after his wife Maryse made her return to WWE.  From the very even they became an on-screen power couple.

Mizanin’s debut show brought him fame, but in his second show Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Seasons 2002, he became the winner. Similarly, he has also won the 2006 fear factor. Talking about his wrestling career, he has been known as the undefeatable villain and has earned several individuals and team titles including WWE Tag Team Champions, United States Championship, and many more

Recently in August 2019, Miz acquired a large mansion in Thousand Oaks, California worth $6.4 million. This shows how luxurious his life is.

Relationship

Miz met the love of his life in the ring. Miz is married to his long term girlfriend Maryse Ouellet, since  February 20, 2014. Maryse is also a WWE wrestler outstanding in her category. On March 27, 2018, the pair welcomed their first child Monroe Sky Mizanin. Following that, on February 17, 2019, the couple announced they were expecting their second child. Consequently, after 7 months of their announcement, they welcomed their second daughter Madison Jade Mizanin. The family now lives in Thousand Oaks, California.

Rumors and Controversy

At the early stage of getting into media, during the Real World days, he got into an argument with housemate Coral Smith. Back then Mike had made some controversial remarks on race. Eventually, the two were able to bury the hatchet and became BFFs. Apart from that, Mike has not been a part of any kind of controversy.
